Ethan Embry Proves He’s Still Got It in the Surprising Thriller ‘Alma & The Wolf’

One look at Alma & the Wolf and you might think, “Great, another werewolf movie.” Leigh Whannell’s Wolf Man didn’t live up to the hype, and if Blumhouse couldn’t do the trick, then who could? Luckily, this indie thriller takes elements of the werewolf formula and remixes them for an alternative experience. From director Michael Patrick Jann (Drop Dead Gorgeous) and writer Abby Miller (The Sinner), Alma & the Wolf — which could also be the name of a punk band, by the way — elevates the werewolf subgenre. It also subverts audience expectations in the final act, if viewers can sit tight for a brief 85 minutes.
